Ubuntu 8.04 - Atheros Communications Inc. AR242x 802.11abg Wireless PCI Express Adapter (rev 01) configuration

Disable the Atheros hardware driver by selecting system->Administration->Hardware Driver

Reboot

Checkout the source madwifi(Multiband Atheros Driver for WiFi) from

svn co https://svn.madwifi-project.org/madwifi/branches/madwifi-hal-0.10.5.6

Use make
**sudo apt-get install build-essential

and sudo make install to install the madwifi driver

edit the /etc/modules using any editor and enter ath_pci at the end
simple one gksudo gedit /etc/modules
