Most of my GNU/Linux(ubuntu) machine with bluetooth support was not working out of the box. All needed little bit of tweaking. For my 8.04 I did not log but I did for 10.04.
Steps that enabled the transfer of files to/fro N72 (This is also called pairing of device)
- select the set up of new device

- select the set up of new device
- Setup new bluetooth device
- On the device(N72) side a dialog box will appear which will require the pin number(1234) to be entered.
- Finally on the device(N72) the bluetooth will have the following setup.
